Tibetan nomad music is given a contemporary classical twist, spanning meditative mantras, folk tunes and spoken word. Friends Choegyal and Philp met in Brisbane when Philp was studying at the Con and Choegyal was new to the city. Their 2021 album, Yeshi Dolma, recorded with Camerata – Queensland's Chamber Orchestra, of which Philp is principal cellist – is named after Choegyal’s mother, who fled Tibet with her children, going on to foster 100 Tibetan children. Choegyal plays dranyen (Tibetan lute) and lingbu (bamboo flute) and has an extraordinary vocal ability. His previous collaborators include Philip Glass and Laurie Anderson. With a special appearance by Resonance String orchestra.
